The Former Kolkata Police Commissioner and current Senior IPS officer Rajeev Kumar , is likely to be arrested soon. As the CBI is carrying a search at the 5 locations in kolkata, which includes the IPS officers mess as Rajeev Kumar is untraceable. Fourteen Officer from the agency Headquarter flew to Kolkata to help the CBI locate former police commissioner.
The CBI has also approached the court to give non bailable arrest warrant against Rajeev Kumar.
Top sources within the CBI told “After writing a letter to the DGP of West Bengal, we also wrote a letter to the lawyer of Rajeev Kumar and asked him to direct Kumar to join the investigation. He has not appeared till today and now we have no option but to take strict measures against him.”
CBI has also asked for a working Mobile Number through which Rajeev Kumar could get communicated.
If a non-bailable warrant is issued against Rajeev Kumar, then it will be seen as big embarrassment not only for the senior officer but also for the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Rajeev Kumar is believed to be very close to Mamata and when the CBI had summoned Kumar for the first time for questioning last year, the West Bengal chief minister sat on a dharna against the CBI and Modi government.
According to the CBI, Rajeev Kumar was involved in tampering of evidence and protecting certain politicians from an investigation into the Saradha and Rose Valley Chit fund scams.
