After the launch of Chandrayaan-2 on July 22, the lander named Vikram has
underwent its first operation around the moon. On Tuesday at around 8:50 am,
ISRO successfully de-orbited Vikram by using the propulsion systems. The
operations were carried out by systems on the orbiter from which Vikram
detached on Monday and its carrying “PRAGYAN” inside it which is a rover.
According to ISRO, the maneuver duration was around 4 seconds and the
Chadrayaan-2 orbiter will continue to orbit around the moon. Vikram is said to
touch the moon surface on September 7 at around 1:55 am.
