This week, the Mumbai Police was tipped with inputs that a man wanted in several criminal cases in Mumbai and Gujarat was going to meet a gangster in the Pathanwadi area of Malad. The meeting was supposed to happen on Thursday morning.
A team of Mumbai Police led by Senior Inspector Sunil Mane laid a trap at the meeting spot. The police officers on the team spread around the area in plainclothes, waiting for the meeting to take place.The suspect was arrested soon after he reached the meeting spot. And, during questioning, he confessed to having been involved in the Patan dacoity.
Interrogation also revealed that the suspect is a history-sheeter. In 2014, the accused and his gang members targeted a Mumbai-based doctor and robbed him of cash and valuables worth Rs 25 lakhs.The doctor and his senior citizen parents were attacked by him and his gang members at his residence in a Jogeshwari high-rise and were gagged while the accused robbed them.The man has also been named in 15 cases that range from murder and attempt to murder to extortion and robbery in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
