After winning the toss West Indies opted to field on a grassy surface which would allow their pacers to ball aggressively. Rahul and Agarwal struck very firmly at a run rate of 5.33 for the first five overs. Like in 20-20 format Rahul was especially aggressive, beginning his charge off the day’s very first over when he struck Kemar Roach through the covers for four.
After making himself in to bowl Holder, the West Indies skipper got his man Rahul for 13.
Soon after the first wicket the debutant Rahkeem Cornwall picked the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara made the team India in to hurdle.Pujara was struggling for finding runs and atlast he cought in the point for 6.
Post lunch Kohli and Agarwal were made a firm partnship despite Holder was testing with the lenght balls. The 69 run stand came to an end by giving Agarwal an easy catch to Cornwall in the bowling of Holder.
The star of first test Rahane joined with Kohli and made the scoreboad ticking. The final session started with the wicket of Rahane, who edged to the keeper with a very good bowl of Roach. Rahane fell for 24 made India in to 164/4.
Holder returned for the spell and get Indian captian at the score of 76.
Pant joined with Vihari and played some good drives. Vihari was playing at 42 and Pant was at 25 while closing the first day of second test.
India lead the series 1-0 after winning the first Test by 318 runs.
